I love the look of wooden furniture and it is super sturdy. We found some nice kitchen chairs at the local Goodwill, but the finish was looking a little worn. They were less than four dollars a chair, though, so we decided to grab them up and add some wood glue and paint.
First, I washed the chairs with soap and water to remove all of the dust and grime on them and let them dry completely. Then I took a sanding block and lightly sanded the varnish on the chairs. There were nicks in a few places that took a little extra sanding. Once the entire surface felt smooth, I used a damp tack cloth and removed as much of the sanding dust as possible. Then I allowed them to dry again.
All four chairs then received several light coats of Rustoleum spray paint in a Sateen finish. I think they came out great!
