When we moved to the farm, we figured that we lived so far out that few people would come to visit. Of course, we expected the grown kids and the grandkids, but we are pretty rural. Our nearest neighbor is about half a mile away. We are more likely to see cattle on a daily basis than people!
We were SO wrong! The kids come visit, but other friends love to drive out and enjoy the ambience of being on a farm. My best friend stayed almost two weeks with us! She is always talking about how relaxing it is to sit on our back porch and drink a cup of coffee while watching our baby goats and chickens play. Wayne’s buddies like to come visit and play farmer with him sometimes, too. We really enjoy having company, but we didn’t want to make them all sleep on the couch, no matter how comfortable the couch may be! Another time, I’ll give a rundown on the awesome couch and love seat we have out here on the farm.
Initially, I was going to have two craft rooms. I love to sew and create things with my Cricut, and I have accumulated several machines and lots of supplies over the years. But, we realized that we needed a guest room, so we decided to squish my crafting life into one room and make a nice place for guests to relax.
We removed all of my crafting stuff from the guest room and installed a nice queen bed in there. The quilt and shams on the bed were a beautiful find at the local thrift store. The quilt hanging on the wall serves two purposes. It acts as a headboard and provides a little sound dampening since the air conditioner sits at that end of the house. I loved that the blue curtains picked up the color from the quilt on the bed, without being super matchy-matchy (is that a word).

The quilt and shams on the bed came from the thrift store.

Isn’t this pattern so pretty?!?
Since the closet door opens against the wall that the bed is on, I decided that the night stand would sit just inside the door with a lamp. There is also a fan just inĀ case someone gets warm or likes the sound of a fan at night. Since it’s so quiet out here, with no city noise, the sound of a fan might help someone who is used to city noises.

If we put it beside the bed, the closet door can’t open.
When guests are here, they have the exclusive use of the hall bath, located just outside the guest room. I like to keep it super tidy, anyway. When we have guests, though, I like to make sure there are lovely fresh towels and face cloths, and a new bar of soap, tube of toothpaste, and a new toothbrush. We are too far from town to do a “quick” run for a small forgotten item. Having a few extras stashed away seems to make people feel much more comfortable!

Our sweet little guest bathroom.
